Materiel introduction

Limestone is a carbonate mineral with the chemical formula of CaCO3. Pure limestone is also known as calcite; white color, brittle in characteristics; hardness: 3; density: 2.71g/cm3; limestone belongs to trigonal system; the common crystal is a rhombohedron. When Ca is replaced by Fe, Mn or Zn, the density will be larger. Pure limestone will decompose When heated to 530℃， and the decomposition become fierce when heated to 910℃ and started to absorb heat and release CO2. Pure limestone is scarce in nature. Limestone and magnesium carbonate can form dolomite or isomorphous compounds. The main impurity is monox, which usually appears in quartz and flint mines minerals; sulphide impurities include pyrite, etc.; simaldrate impurities as clay, feldspar and mica, etc. Sometimes limestone contains organics as coal and asphaltos, etc. That’s why the colors of limestone with impurities can be light green, yellow, brown, red, grey or black, etc.
